Postcards From Last Summer (Original Soundtrack
Postcards From Last Summer is a hypertextual coming-of-age film-essay. Build upon handwriting notes, off-screen narration, and a minimalistic –almost ecstatic– mise-en-scène is an evocative snapshot about the need to find your true self.
Apart from a bunch of dreamy and ethereal soundscapes to enhance the summer-ish and evocative spirit of the film, you’ll also find some songs. Songs that have been lyrically adapted for the film or the last song, ‚What’s it Like‘, a song I wrote last year and back then didn’t have a place for it yet, but through this film and my continuous songwriting and composing work, it is now the base for a new beginning on my solo journey that is yet to be put in the form of a proper release. But time will come, it seems that I found some inner patience and a feeling that I can’t rush things. That I shouldn’t rush myself.
My co- composer and companion in all things life, Florian, also played an important role in this whole endeavour. Not only is he responsible for a lot of additional composing, but he also initially wrote ‚We Know You are Watching‘.
In it’s original form it’s a sweet love song he wrote for me a few years ago, he generously gave it to me to adapt it for the film. It’s very unlikely that the original version will ever see the day of light, but send me a message, if I know you well enough, I might send it over to you.
I hope you enjoy this 1 day special for now. It will appear on streaming platforms near you eventually (end of June)! Take care & thanks for the love! Take care, xx Ella
